We are pleased to announce another product partner - Saka Water. Here is some information about Saka Water...we are all excited here to try some. We have heard from a few of our entrants who have tried it. They say it is "the best tasting water in Australia"!
What is Saka and why I need it.
Saka water is a premium all-natural alkaline mineral water. It rises from a pure, remote and protected aquifer. It's not tap water or processed spring water. It is a simple and rare delicacy found only in a few places around the world.
Inside your body are two extremes – acid and alkaline, measured by a factor called pH. To maintain good health, your body constantly strives to stay slightly alkaline. Our bodies function best at a pH level between 7.2 and 7.5. Just as acid rain can destroy a forest, excess acid in your body can lead to serious health issues.
Daily maintenance through nutrition of the body's ever shifting pH balance is fundamental to achieving a healthy body. Alkaline pH is critical for body functions, resulting in more energy, less illness, healthy sleep, sound bones and teeth, longer health span as we age, better circulation and healthy weight with less fat.
Saka Water is a simple alkaline food and a simple way to help restore your body's pH balance.
Saka water has a natural alkaline pH balance of an outstanding 8.22. A pH below 7 indicates above-normal acidity, and a pH above 7 indicates water that is mostly alkaline. Correct acid-alkaline balance is essential in establishing a foundation for optimum, vibrant health. A pH imbalance can lead to a variety of health issues and problems. The average western diet contains an abundance of acid-forming white sugars, white flours, overly processed meats and dairy products. Add soft drinks, sugar-based sports drinks and acidity in the body becomes a potential health risk. Even some bottled water brands are acidic - a fact not revealed on their labels or web sites.
The Saka Story?
There are hundreds of bottled water brands out there and each brand will tell you they are the best, the purest, etc, etc.
We compared 1247 different brands of bottled water from around the world to find the healthiest water available.
Irrelevant of brand, most bottled water out there are simply spring, purified or even filtered tap water which are acidic, have low or no minerals and some contain nasty and harmful chemicals making them unhealthy.
Healthy water should be non-carbonated natural mineral water with a balance of key minerals and an alkaline pH.
There's one brand that has grown to over 25 countries in less than 4 years without any marketing or advertising, without fancy expensive bottles or packaging, just the healthiest water available anywhere, and all it takes for you to confirm this is one simple sip.
Saka Natural Mineral Water is naturally filtered within the strata of the remote and protected koroglu Mountains.
Saka Water is the healthiest water we found because of the following rare reasons…
Saka is bottled at source under ultra-hygienic conditions, untouched from source to bottle, Saka is as pure as nature intended.
Saka has a unique balance of key minerals required by the body and because of this balance it has an incredible smooth taste.
Even the unique easy-crush bottles are blown at source to avoid any bacteria.
No harmful chemicals or additives added. Saka has an incredibly high absorption rate into the body.
The unique environmentally conscious bottles are made with less plastic and easier to carry, crush and recycle.
Most importantly, Saka is a healthy Alkaline water with 8.22pH balance.
Saka is produced with respect to ISO 22000 Food Safety-HACCP, ISO 9001:2000 and TSE regulations.
The production facility has been developed with state of the art technology and it is one of the fastest bottling plants in Europe.
Saka's purity of source, quality of water and natural mineral conent is offically recognized by SGS and The Fresenius Institute adhering to the strict European Parliament directives.
Your body is crying for smooth, pure, healthy alkaline water that you can taste and feel the difference.
Activate a healthier lifestyle - Enjoy Saka Water

The inspiration behind Light Cosmetics by Erin...check out her story...
I have been around makeup my whole life, my grandma was a makeup artist and I always remember the excitement of being with her and trying on all her bright blue eyeshadow and coral lipstick! she was the most beautiful woman and always immpeccably groomed. she really was my hero and my inspiration. It made perfect sense for me to follow in her footsteps so after completing highschool and my TEE exams I went to beauty college and have been a beauty therapist since 1998. I adore everything to do with cosmetics and delight in packaging and bright colours. A huge passion of mine is protecting animals from cruelty and have always sought after animal cruelty free products.
I have been lucky enough to be a part of hundreds of brides special days by providing makeup services for the bridal parties and lots of lovely mothers of the brides and grooms!I have always wanted my own range, something I could promote knowing it really does do what it says it will and doesnt harm animals in the making.
The start really began last year while I was in Hawaii for our beautiful wedding. The makeup artist who made me so gorgeous for my amazing day had her own line of products. It renewed my passion and I excitedly filled my husband in.My wonderful husband Richie really urged me on to just do it. He has so much faith in me and my skills and knows the passion I have for cosmetics. It took a long time to source everything and makesure everything was exactly how I wanted it to be and more sleepness nights than I can count!!!
When my first shipment arrived I was at work. My husband rang to tell me it had arrived and I made him promise not to open it till I got home at 8pm.
I ran in the door and hubby says I was like a kid at christmas. I couldnt stop looking at everything. It is exactly How I wanted it to be and I am so proud of my creation! I am overjoyed to introduce LIGHT COSMETICS BY ERIN

Prize Day kicks off with a bang!!!!
After conducting many weekly prize draws last year we have designed a new way of rewarding not only our fab entrants but also supporters of our Facebook page... it is very simple...here's how it works...
1. At certain times throughout the day we will randomly choose entrants or followers...or both. The entrants will be chosen via the randomly generated photos that feature on our home page. Followers will simply be chosen out of the list FB gives us.
2. We will then post the winner(s) name(s) on the FB page and they will have 20 mins to make a comment. To do this all you need to do is hit 'comment' line under the post...just let us know you are there! If we don't get a comment, we can't award the prize!!! See...simple!!!
3. If you are a follower winner and make a comment, all you need to do then is go to this contact us page and send us your mail address. Obviously we have them for entrants but not for followers. Your address will not be used for anything other than mailing your prize and we will not keep it on file anywhere.
So...that is all there is to it. Remember, this is just a fun way to win some prizes...it has nothing to do with the outcome of the competition or the voting to determine the finalists. And, don't worry if you miss out on the the first one...or second one...we will be running a few throughout the competition at various times... weekend, evenings, daytime - so everyone gets a chance!!!
PLUS be sure to get all your friends to 'like' our FB page so they can have a chance to win also!!! The prizes include haircare poducts, makeup and other treats...don't you miss out and get your friends into the fun!!! We will give you a few days notice as to when the Prize Days will happen...so be prepared to win!!!

How to create your own specific Next Real Model page on Facebook
Hi guys...as promised, here are the instructions to create your own page to help in your bid to win the Next Real Model competition.
If you are already logged in, simply go to the menu bar on the left hand side. You should see Ads and Pages under Photos. Click on this and it will take you to an area where you can Create a Page. Simply complete the info there and hit submit. Some ideas on what to call the page are:
Your name for Next Real Model
Vote Your Name for Next Real Model
Your Name to win Next Real Model
The Next Real Model will be Your Name
These are just some suggestions - try to include Next Real Model in the title so it makes it easier for people to search for you. Facebook won't let you call it just Next Real Moel as we already have that one.
If you are not logged into Facebook or do not have a Facebook account (but want one) then simply hit http://www.facebook.com/ and under the signup area you will see a button saying create a page for a business, celebrity, etc. Clcik on this. Complete the form...if not sure, list yourself as a public figure then submit. At this point you wil either have to create an account or sign in. From there it is easy...just type in some info, upload images and you are off and running.
Couple of key things about your page - keep updating it...don't let it just sit there.
Let us know and, if possible, we will add it in our fav pages on the Next Real Model fan page. For some we can't - not sure why but for those we will try to feature you as well. Plus, when you let us know we will add the link on your profiel on the Next Real Model website.
Also, add the Next Real Model page in your favs (the link should be just under your profile pic) and get all your fans to follow our page...they will help to promote you throughout the competition...not just through your page.
Hope this all helps. We look forward to seeing your pages upload soon.

Some thoughts and news from our 2009 Next Real Model winner - Laura Love
“The journey of Next Real Model has been an eye opening one! Not only did I get an amazing amount of prizes but I also have a lifetime supply of Goldmark jewellery to enjoy plus I was also able to give my family and friends lots of gorgeous jewellery for Christmas. I really enjoy giving to others which was wonderful opportunity for me to give them all such lovely gifts. Thank you! After winning the competition I was over the moon at the opportunity the exposure would bring. In the year I finished my University degree in psychology then shortly after moved to the beautiful Gold Coast and began having an amazing lifestyle. This went hand in hand with modelling and my second degree in Nutritional Medicine which I am now studying. It was amazing that moving to the Gold Coast opened my eyes to the social hub of celebrities up here, I started seeing many models out and about at local beaches and shopping centres, which affirmed to me that moving up here for the lifestyle was a good move :).
I was already with an excellent agency in Sydney but after the competition was signed with an agency up here in Brisbane and had a few excellent experiences of wonderful on location photo shoots in surfers paradise and in amazing Byron Bay – something I have always wanted to do.
I have discovered, that modelling takes a lot of continual discretin. Being the NRM, left me with an enormous responsibility to positively portray women.
I had offers for shoots which were too raunchy and not compatible with the direction I want to go, so in this industry sometimes I had to turn down what seemed like exciting opportunities. I realise I must be centred happy and listen to my feelings to truly create and attract great opportunities into my life.
I was given enormous support and guidance through the wonderful Di Andrews, who I am so thankful for. She is an asset to the competition and a woman of immense class and integrity.
I have realised that I must continue to work on myself from the inside out, to truly shine as a model and believe in myself, which is why I have taken some time out to refocus my energies and to someday better re-enter modelling when I have study, health and fitness all in a great balance. I am a very health conscious person and this combined with a positive mental attitude is my number 1 priority.
In the new year I hope to work on the Gold Coast as a professional model, as long trips into Brisbane are quite demanding in the midst of my tertiary studies. I have approached some fantastic agencies who are itching to sign me in the new year until then I am working on my portfolio, which is a models necessity to ensure work. Thank you Next Real Model for the journey and teaching me so many invaluable lessons! I have learnt not to take myself so seriously, to love who I am and believe in myself. Modelling should be fun and enjoyed! May next years winner be passionate about the experience and be in for an exciting, eye opening real look at the world of modelling. May they know that everything on our journey contributes to our growth to ultimately teach us about who we are and what we value!
Have fun on the journey, wherever it may lead you!
Love & Light :)

Government's Body Image Initiative stalled until after the election
Last month we wrote a post to let you know about the Body Image Initiative that the Minister for Youth had launched. We were very keen to get behind it and support in whatever way we could...as we believe the Next Real Model concept embodies what the initiative is trying to achieve.
We contacted the Minister, Kate Ellis MP to let her know about the concept and to extend our support. A couple of days ago I received a letter from her department commenting that, due to election, the Government is essentially putting the initiative on hold....fair enough I suppose, although it is very disappointing.
There have been many people working behind the scenes on this and we would encourage everyone after the election to ensure the incoming Government does not simply shelve this great initiative. Let's be sure to ask the question...as I am sure the many committees and bodies who had input will do also.
